Q. Describe yourself in one sentence.
Wannabe dog owner who lives life at 150mph powered by dreams and espresso.
Q. How long have you been at Ceres? What’s your role?
I’ve been at Ceres for almost five years, following five years living in Italy immersing myself in the food culture and trying to get to grips with the language. I look after the content department, making Ceres Client Videos, running photography shoots and working with the social media and PR teams to implement content marketing programmes.
Q. How did you get into PR? What made you choose it as a career?
When I returned to the UK I was looking for a business I could put my skills into practice and it was just when the content world was opening up in the world of PR, that’s when I found Ceres. And I’ve embraced it ever since and have even gone on to gain my Professional Diploma in PR. I started out in live television working at Manchester United, Disney and then moved into food shows like Saturday Kitchen and Market Kitchen where I discovered I had found my calling. Moving from TV into PR has allowed me to be more strategic and think about more than just entertainment and now I really love finding creative solutions to brand problems and seeing the results.
Q. What is your favourite part of the job?
Food is my absolute passion and being able to talk about it, photograph it, video it AND eat it everyday is a dream. There’s definitely a feeling of satisfaction when you know you’ve captured some stunning food shots for a client.
Q. What’s a stand out campaign you have been a part of that your proud of?
Oooh difficult to pick just one, but I love the visual journey we have taken Discover Great Veg on over the past three years and I’m really happy with what we have achieved.
Q. What’s your best Ceres moment?
I recently went to Turkey with Crazy Jack on a story gathering mission and that was incredible. Not only did we meet some fascinating people and learn first hand about organic farming in the region, but there was some of the best food I’ve tasted too! Win win.
Q. If you could work with one brand in the world, who would it be and why?
I can’t pick just one!!! Purely from a content point of view it would have to be IKEA. They are creatively on top of their game – from their ECG monitored rug sale, to their Christmas ad which is fabulous. They also picked up a Cannes Lions award for ‘ThisAbles’ showing they care about providing real solutions to people. I don’t eat there, but KFC, McDonalds or Burger King would be a close second. I love their humour and innovation.
Q. What’s your favourite dish?
Spending five years in Italy you’d think it would be something Italian…and it’s true the food there is incredible, but I did pine for one dish constantly, which the Italians just can’t produce - a big fat Sunday roast with all the trimmings. Now I have it every Sunday during roasting season (officially October – May in my house)
