Ceres Spotlight: Cat Cambridge

Q. Introduce yourself in one sentence

Big in personality, small in size and lover of cats.

Q. How long have you been at Ceres? What’s your role?

That’s a tough question, because I’ve technically worked at Ceres twice!

I kicked off my PR career at Ceres as a junior account executive more than 11 years ago, but I left for the bright lights of London after two and a half years.

Eight years later and I couldn’t resist coming back, this time as a PR account director. It will be my (second) first anniversary on 1st November!

Q. How did you get into PR/Digital/Content Creation? What made you want to choose it as a career?

I first heard about PR whilst studying journalism at Southampton Solent University. It sounded fun and exciting, so I decided to try it out for myself. I found a lovely PR agency in Reading called Ceres to do a week’s work experience at… and the rest is history!

Q. What’s your favourite part of the job?

I absolutely love the buzz of securing a fantastic piece of coverage; it never gets old.

Q. What’s a stand out piece of coverage/content you have been a part of that you’re proud of?

It has got to be getting my client Milk & More on Channel 5 News. It was really satisfying watching the opportunity develop, from drafting the original press release and selling it in, to briefing the milkman and managing the filming shoot. It was definitely worth all of the effort… and even the 4am start!

Q. What’s been your best Ceres moment?

I have had plenty over the years, from teaching 300 primary school students about how milk gets from grass to glass, to managing and appearing in a German news programme, but my best / worst moment has got to be when I appeared in Nuts magazine. I was wearing a “Love chips?” t-shirt and holding a portion of chips to promote National Chip Week. I will never forget my mum calling me to say she had brought several copies to show her friends!

Q. If you could work with any brand in the world, who would it be and why?

I would love to work for Cats Protection. Not only is it a fantastic charity but I would get to talk to journalists about cats – I can’t think of anything better.

Q. What’s your favourite dish?

I absolutely love Fajitas and Mexican cuisine in general!

Q. If you were stranded on a desert island, what would be the one item you’d take?

Am I allowed to take my two cats Bill and Ted??
