The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists (SCP) has appointed PR agency Ceres to run a six month campaign to raise awareness of foot health during ‘Feet for Life Month’ in June.
With the Olympic year now upon us, the focus of the campaign will be specifically on foot care in sports. Sprains, torn ligaments and joint and muscle problems are just some of the common problems for people who participate in sport. Issues such as these will all be addressed with information on common complaints, symptoms, prevention and treatment.
The campaign will have access to leading sports podiatrists who treat some of our best known athletes. 7,500 practicing podiatry members of SCP will help spread the foot health message and encourage people to visit their local chiropodist or podiatrist.
Kathryn Race, Ceres’ Director said: “This is a great campaign to work on with some simple yet crucial messages for looking after your feet, for example; choosing the right shoe for the right job, following the 1cm rule, always wearing socks and remembering to warm up and cool down. When you run your body weight is multiplied by three times, with your feet bearing the brunt, so it’s vital we look after them.”
Nita Parmar, Director of Marketing and Communications said: “Podiatrists are qualified to assess, diagnose and treat problems of the foot and associated structures. As a nation we tend to neglect our feet and many people do not seek professional help when required. ‘Feet for Life Month’ aims to make the public more aware of key foot health issues and how to prevent and treat them. We are delighted to work with Ceres; the team there has demonstrated experience in, and understanding of, communicating health messages and in using awareness campaigns as a vehicle in which to do this.”
The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists is the leading professional body for registered chiropodists and podiatrists in the UK. For more information on foot health visit www.feetforlife.org
SCP swiftly follows a previous account win for Ceres in December when the agency were appointed by The British Leafy Salads Association (BLSA) to run a generic three year integrated PR and marketing campaign for the leafy salad sector. Other clients across food and health include Farmhouse Breakfast Week, LEAF, Open Farm Sunday, Let Nature Feed Your Senses, Adams & Harlow, Fenmarc and Rudolph Potatoes.
