Potato Council

National Chip Week
Ceres helped the Potato Council team celebrate National Chip Week 2009 in style. The story about the aroma of chips certainly captured the media's imagination and secured coverage that included BBC Breakfast, BBC's 6 o'clock news, The Sun and the front page of the Daily Telegraph.

Around the country, hundreds of fish and chip shops took part in the campaign and gained coverage in their local media.

Plans are well underway for Chip Week 2010, taking place 15-21 February 2010 - so watch this space!

Love Potatoes
Potatoes may be one of Britain's best loved foods, but to get them front of mind at meal times, when there are so many options to choose from, requires really creative and effective PR.

The Love Potatoes campaign engages with the under 35's in particular - reminding them in a variety of ways that potatoes are easy to use, healthy and above all versatile and delicious.

Events led by TV chef Simon Rimmer, head-line grabbing news stories that explained how the under 30's struggle to cook even a jacket potato, and deliciously easy recipe ideas and photography -  have all contributed to ensure potatoes are kept high on the media agenda. In the last 12 months potatoes have featured on BBC Breakfast, GMTV, the Daily Telegraph and Daily Express, to name but a few.

Grow Your Own Potatoes
Potato Council's Grow Your Own Potatoes project is one of the largest growing activities for school children. Although it was one of the first, there are now many others for schools to choose from, so the PR has to make Grow Your Own Potatoes stand out from the crowd.

A range of PR activities across education and consumer media, highlights just how easy (and free) the project is to participate in - and the educational benefits it offers. A combination of digital communication, events and media liaison, helped secure the participation of 12,500 primary schools in 2009. The extensive coverage included educational, regional and national articles from the Primary Times and Good Housekeeping, to the Shropshire Star and Cambridge Evening News.
