Open Farm Sunday has gone from strength to strength since the first event in June 2006. Organised by the farming charity LEAF, over 420 farmers opened their gates for Open Farm Sunday 2009, and greeted 140,000 visitors.
Working with the team at LEAF, we encourage farmers across the country to either open their own farm, or to help out at a neighbour's event - through workshops, e-newsletters and media activity.
During 2008 and 2009, farming heroes helped tell the story behind our food to national and regional media, resulting in coverage including BBC Breakfast, Working Lunch, BBC Radio 2 and The Telegraph, many local radio stations and countless consumer magazines.
Media activity is supported by social media, including Twitter, which has helped to engage the target audience and drive traffic to www.farmsunday.org to find a farm to visit on the day itself and learn more about LEAF.
Open Farm Sunday 2010 will take place on Sunday 13 June 2010.
