Dawn Porter Does Potatoes

Dawn Porter is putting her love of potatoes to the test with a challenge to see if she can squeeze them into her hectic life by following a potato cooking and eating plan for the month of August.

It's a dream come true for any young girl-about-town - being able to eat your favourite food every day - but will she stay the course by cooking her own potato meals from scratch for 28 days and still be able to free up time?

Potato Council's nutritionist, Sian Porter, has analysed Dawn's eating habits and created a menu plan that's quick and easy to follow, yet healthy too. Potatoes are the perfect for Dawn - they're naturally fat free with nutrients including vitamin C, B1, folate and fibre.

There are lots of quick and easy dishes which can be on the table in 10 minutes plus there are tips on how to prevent binging by eating three light meals a day and how to avoid skipping lunch by taking it with you. And, the menu plan, which can be found here, debunks the myth that you can't eat carb's after 6pm and features tips on eating out, so Dawn can still enjoy tasty potato dishes wherever she goes.

Dawn's taste buds won't tire either - the menu planner features everything from Mexican potatoes and eggs (for brunch) and light Thai potato and prawn salad (ideal for lunch) to Lime & chilli wedges with lamb koftas and a speedy Jamaican jerk chicken & potato stir fry (for main meal).

The plan will go transatlantic, as Dawn is still in the process of moving back to the UK so fans can follow her exploits in Britain and LA at www.twitter.com/hotpatootieswww.dawnporter.wordpress.com and each week, she'll post up a video blog at www.lovepotatoes.co.uk/dawn-does-potatoes

The potato girls will be following the plan with Dawn so keep up with their progress at www.facebook.com/thepotatogirls and www.twitter.com/thepotatogirls.
