The British Leafy Salads Association (BLSA) has appointed Reading-based specialist food PR agency Ceres to run a generic three year integrated PR and marketing campaign for the leafy salad sector. The activity will promote the benefits of leafy salads to consumers and children.
The agency appointment was confirmed last week following a successful bid by the BLSA for EU funds made available to the fruit and vegetable sector following the E.coli crises earlier this year. It is a match funded campaign and the BLSA were the only British bid to secure the additional funds.
Ceres, who are based in Dunsden, won the account following a four way pitch worth £260,000. Kathryn Race, Ceres’ Director who will lead the account says: “We are delighted to be working with the BLSA on this campaign and have huge experience in this sector. The campaign will be launched in May 2012 and will be tightly targeted to the younger consumer with the aim of increasing their frequency of purchase.”
The BLSA represents 37 salad growers, packers, prepared salad companies and allied industry companies from across the UK.
Ceres has 12 years experience working successfully on many food and farming campaigns such as Farmhouse Breakfast Week, Love Potatoes, National Chip Week, Grow Your Own Potatoes, Discover Kale, Think Veg and LEAF’s Open Farm Sunday, for which it won silver at the CIPR Thames and Chiltern PRide awards last week. It has also been very effective in launching brands to the trade for companies such as Adams & Harlow, Serious Pig, Fenmarc and The Fish Company.
